The Hague Convention
Member of the Hague Convention.
Mauritius has adopted the Hague Convention regarding the abolishment of legalisation of foreign general documents.
The purpose of the convention is to abolish the requirement for diplomatic or consular legalisation of foreign general documents.
This procedure shall be replaced by a unified and simple certification issued by a qualified authority in the country from which the documents originate.
Instead of the general documents being legalised by the embassy or consulate, an APOSTILLE will be issued by a Notary Public.
In order for a Notary Public to be able to issue an apostille, the document must first be notarised.
The Notary Public that Comet engages can assist with both notarisation and apostille!
IMPORTANT! In Sweden, as of 1 January 2005, ONLY Notary Publics have the right to issue an apostille.
Issued by a Notary Public.
